The 11th edition of the international conference series "BIRTH: Clinical Challenges in Labor and Delivery" will be held from December 11th to 13th this year in Budapest, Hungary, at the magnificent Vigado Palace Theatre. This year's conference is being co-organized by Semmelweis University of Budapest and the Hungarian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (MNT). Alongside the organizing presidents, prof.rs Gian Carlo Di Renzo and Roberto Romero, the event will be chaired by Prof. Nandor Acs, director of the University's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and president of the MNT.
The conference will open on December 11th with three training courses in the morning and three in the afternoon on the most important topics related to childbirth. It will continue over the following days with main sessions, breaking news sessions, lunch workshops, and simulation sessions held concurrently with the main sessions. Over fifty international experts will join local experts, forming a large and important faculty who will discuss the most important aspects of childbirth, particularly new methods of assisting vaginal birth (OdonAssist), cesarean section techniques, the risks of labor and delivery for the mother and the fetus (postpartum hemorrhage, twin births, etc.), and the use of AI for improved management of labor and delivery. The conference will also discuss preterm birth and its prevention issues and risks for the fetus/newborn, the new challenges posed by obesity, diabetes, nutritional and lifestyle changes that can negatively impact labor, and, finally, the use of ultrasound as a tool to better diagnose labor disorders. In this regard, courses will be held alongside the main sessions, featuring ultrasound simulations.
The Birth Congress - Clinical Challenges in Labor & Delivery- the leading educational and must-attend event in Birth, Labor & Delivery internationally now in its 11th edition (the first was held in Rome in 2005), continues to represent an important and highly valuable scientific event for this field of medicine and for human reproductive health care. The event aims to advance the education of physicians and other professionals, support the development and facilitate the delivery of high-quality healthcare international, locally and regionally.
This edition is dedicated to Ignác Semmelweis (Buda, July 1, 1818 – Döbling, August 13, 1865), after whom Hungary's largest University is named: he was a Hungarian physician who, in the 19th century, contributed to crucial scientific research on the prevention of infections through hand disinfection. He was awarded the prize for his important contributions to the study of contact bacterial transmission and the prevention of puerperal fever. In 1847, he discovered that, in maternity clinics, the high incidence of puerperal fever could be drastically reduced through hand disinfection. In 2013, UNESCO decided to include some documents relating to Semmelweis's discovery in the Memory of the World Register.
